The Future of Green
THE HAGUE, The Netherlands - Aramco Overseas Company hosted “The Future of Green” seminar at NEMO Science Center Amsterdam on May 24, 2011. Ahmed M. Alzayyat, Managing Director of AOC until June; Nabil Al-Dabal, AOC’s new MD; Martin Maeso, Technical Director Energy Institute UK; Joop de Schutter, Deputy Director UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education; and other guests including Shell and PwC, attended the event.

“The Future of Green” seminar is part of the AOC “GO GREEN!” environmental awareness campaign, organized by AOC Public Relations in partnership with AOC’s Research and Technology unit. The campaign began on April 22 (Earth Day) and extended until June 5 (World Environment Day).
“I am honored to be at NEMO to represent Aramco Overseas Company and Saudi Aramco at this seminar, which is a part of our “Green Awareness” campaign. Our Company places the highest importance on protecting the natural environment, which is a long-standing corporate priority,” stated Alzayyat in his opening speech.
During the seminar, Professor Piet Lens from UNESCO gave a presentation entitled ‘Environmental biotechnology for sustainable development,’ which was followed by a presentation from Green Ambition’s Adeline de Lamar entitled ‘Decarbonise yourself to minimize your impact on climate change.’ Attendees were also given an opportunity to learn about the exceptional care Saudi Aramco takes to protect the marine environment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as shown through Saudi Aramco’s marine protection video, ‘Seas of Change.’ This was followed by a presentation focusing on AOC and Saudi Aramco’s environmental protection initiatives by a Research & Technology representative.
The seminar not only demonstrated Saudi Aramco and AOC’s commitment to the environment, but also provided networking opportunities for AOC and its business associates, and enabled them to discuss environmental awareness.
“The best means with which our company can protect the natural environment is one and the same as the way we execute all of our obligations: by deploying the three drivers of our success – talent, technology, and teamwork.’ This was a statement made by Saudi Aramco President and CEO Khalid Al-Falih, and I could not agree more,” stated Alzayyat at the close of the seminar. “The talent and technology within Saudi Aramco and AOC, and the teamwork spirit among our employees, ensure that we will do all we can to protect this planet we call home.”
