FLORENCE, Italy — The AOC staffing services team participated in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) in Florence, Italy, on Sept. 20-22. It was the first time the conference had been held outside of the United States, and its success was impressive.

More than 250 companies from 17 countries exhibited at the event, each stand featuring the latest products and services, and professionally manned by representatives engaging delegates in fruitful conversations about the energy and petroleum industries. To emphasize the sheer size of the conference, it was attended by more than 4,700 oil and gas professionals from more than 70 countries worldwide, a diverse range of nationalities ensuring no two interactions were ever the same.

AOC’s staffing services team was there to recruit for petroleum engineering, oil operations, drilling and work-over, and exploration. “The Saudi Aramco stand proved very popular, and the giveaways went like hot cakes,” said team leader Emily Hyett. AOC and ASC together attracted a number of high-calibre delegates to apply for positions within Saudi Aramco.

The next annual SPE ATCE will take place in Denver, Colorado, in October-November 2011, while the next international SPE ATCE is set to return to Europe and is planned for Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2014.
