Green Champions
April 8, 2011
Green is the new black! When it comes to the environment, that is. With spring in the air, and the support of the Saudi Aramco sponsored students in London, AOC collaborated with Swiss Cottage SEN School ( for students with special educational needs) to become Environmental Champions.

A total of 160 of the school’s students participated, planting of seeds, building raised beds, tending to the school lawn and painting flower pots to decorate the classrooms. “Joining these special children today and helping them undertake this very simple task has really made me appreciate that such a small gesture can have a really big impact on someone else.” Said Abdullah Al-Ramadan “I am very glad I was able to be a part of this green day, and can proudly say I am a Green Champion!”
All the students, from the nursery classes all the way up to secondary school got involved in some aspect of the day’s activities; being supported by the Saudi Aramco sponsored students only added to the fun they had working together to make their school greener. “Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces as they got paint all over their aprons and dirt on their hands was such a heart-warming sight. I will never forget how one of the students grabbed my arm and made sure I followed his instructions on how many seeds I should plant and why,” recalled Mohammed Bu Hassan. “They were a delight to be around, and a great reminder of how much fun being a child can be.”
“On behalf of everyone here at Swiss Cottage SEN School, I would like to thank Saudi Aramco and its students for supporting us today in making our school greener” said head teacher Kay Bedford at the end of the day, as everyone gathered together to showcase what they have worked on. “We had so much fun today; I wish we could do this every week!” said Hakeem from the primary class. “You boys from Aramco are really cool!”
