AOC fundraises through fun-filled fete

June 17, 2011

Since the beginning of 2011, AOC has been promoting its Corporate Values. For the months of June and July the focus is Citizenship, and with this in mind it was decided that AOC offices around the world would hold fund-raising events to for a global charity.

On June 17, the employees of AOC The Hague gathered in the Company’s onsite restaurant for a fantastic afternoon of fun at the “AOC Summer Fete,” which included activities and stalls run by employees, selling everything from homemade cakes and snacks to bric-a-brac, including books, DVD’s and toys.

In the weeks leading up to the event, employees donated items to sell and raffle, and many employees volunteered to participate on the day.  Anne Fraser from AOC Strategic Sourcing, a professional reflexology therapy entity, offered short reflexology sessions for a fee, with all proceeds going to charity. Similarly, 10-minute massages were offered for those in need of some relaxation and hair styling for those venturing out after work hours.

It was no surprise that tickets sold fast for the raffles, as prizes included iPods, professional massages and even the opportunity to be driven to and from work for a day by AOC’s company driver.

Freshly baked cakes were for sale, as too were Moroccan and Bosnian cuisine. And if you wanted to be more active or hands-on, crazy golf was offered al fresco, run by our very own golfing enthusiasts. A cupcake decorating stall offered employees the chance to unleash the artist within.

Who knew that we had so much talent amongst our workforce?

Hugely popular was the professional caricature artist and the external tarot card reader/psychic, who were required to stay after hours just to fit everyone in.

So we have managed to raise €1,450 — an amazing achievement for an afternoon’s work. This does not include, however, money pledged but not paid yet, so hopefully the total will keep rising.

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered on the day, but equally a big thank you to everyone who attended the Summer Fete and enjoyed a fun afternoon whilst raising money for a good cause!
