AOC’s Quality Management Division demonstrated its commitment to quality excellence by organizing and celebrating the United Nations World Quality Day on Nov. 10 at AOC’s offices in The Hague.
Eighteen inspection service contracts (10 for Europe and eight for Asia Pacific) were awarded. From Jan. 1, 2011, these 18 contracts will replace the current 14 to allow AOC to continue providing vendor inspection services in its area of operations. The role of these agencies is to provide inspection services ensuring compliance with Company requirements and purchase-order specifications of the procured materials for Saudi Aramco capital projects, operating plants and joint ventures.
“AOC pursues business excellence in the regions we operate. In the global economy where quality leads to successes, this World Quality Day certainly raised our attention and let us focus on the importance of quality in its broadest sense, joining and celebrating a universal event,” said Ahmed M. Alzayyat, managing director of AOC. “Quality is the foundation of our business growth in this industry; we would like to use World Quality Day to promote awareness of quality within our organization and to the service providers that we work with. This will let us improve ourselves, increase our customer satisfaction and move forward toward our mission of zero defects,” he added.
Quality Management representatives Khalid Buradha and Henk Kampinga shared AOC’s experiences, lessons learned, expectations, contract requirements and business outlook with participants. Furthermore, several interactive presentations by AOC management and participating inspection agencies were delivered. “This event definitely served its best purpose. I am certain that we will continue our operations in high quality by having these new contracts. The best practices learnt from the event will help us keep on improving the way we operate,” said Yasir Al-Yousif, AOC Quality Management division head.
World Quality Day was introduced by the United Nations in 1990 to increase and promote worldwide awareness of the important contribution that quality makes towards the growth and prosperity of nations and organizations. It is the perfect opportunity for professionals and organizations around the world to raise awareness of how quality approaches can make a tangible impact on business.
