June 14, 2011
A visit by His Excellency Ali I. Al-Naimi, minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the headquarters of Aramco Overseas Company in The Hague on June 14, provided the perfect opportunity to highlight the Company’s efforts on behalf of Saudi Aramco in its areas of operations.

AOC MD Nabil Al-Dabal with His Excellency Ali I. Al-Naimi, minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Ali H. Al-Twairqi, vice president, Office of the Chairman of the Saudi Aramco Board of Directors.
His Excellency was accompanied by Ali H. Al-Twairqi, vice president, Office of the Chairman of the Saudi Aramco Board of Directors.
AOC’s managing director, Nabil Al-Dabal, delivered a presentation to the minister on the Company’s operations, with the head of each AOC organization providing an overview of his management area. Emphasis was placed on current achievements as well as future initiatives that are aligned with our mother Company’s strategic imperatives and operational needs, and, importantly, that adhere to exceptional corporate governance and business ethics practices.
Prior to this, Al-Naimi had highlighted the importance of leveraging opportunities for both Saudi Aramco and the Kingdom created through AOC’s presence in Europe, where many of the world’s leading players in the energy industry are located. He urged the building of relationships with key industry figures, particularly highlighting technologies for deep-water drilling as an expanding area of focus for the Company as well as energy efficiency and water management. Mention also was made of Saudi Aramco’s Accelerated Transformation Program and how AOC could contribute, with identification of collaborations within technology, as well as chemicals and alternative energy targeted as key potential areas.
During his closing remarks, the minister expressed his thanks for AOC’s outstanding support to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and he observed that Saudi Aramco would be unable to function as effectively without the excellent support AOC provides.
Al-Dabal expressed his thanks in return, stating: “It was an honor to host this visit, and I believe it will truly inspire AOC’s work force to even greater achievement.”
At the culmination of the visit, AOC hosted a lunch in honor of the visit at which His Excellency was joined by Saudi Ambassador to The Netherlands Abdullah Abdulaziz Alshagrood and senior members of AOC management.
Al-Naimi served as president and CEO of Saudi Aramco in 1988 for seven years, an impressive culmination of his tenure with the Company since 1947, which included a brief period as AOC president in 1977. He was appointed minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in 1995, and is current chairman of the Saudi Aramco Board of Directors.
