Our approach
At AOC we believe in making a positive contribution to the communities where we work and we enjoy the relationships we’ve built with many different community groups. Our approach is guided by the outlook of our parent company, Saudi Aramco, where corporate responsibility and accountability are central to the way we do things.

Our values and heritage guide our activities
As a business we value diversity, multiculturalism, the family unit, health, education and environmental awareness, and recognize that by supporting these values as an active corporate citizen in our local communities, we as a business will also benefit. We will have happier, healthier and better-informed employees, and communities that support what we do.
This approach is part of our heritage. Without spearheading outreach programs to the communities in which we operate, Saudi Aramco, of which we are part, would not have grown to the globally significant enterprise it is today.
Where we focus our contribution
From our company values AOC has devised three main areas for our community activities: Education, Health and the Environment. Our Education outreach program focuses on science and technology from primary school to post-graduate level, as well as promoting cross-cultural understanding. Our Health initiatives include the support of local hospitals as well as a number of health-related research projects that will benefit the global community. Our Environment program seeks to educate and inform the next generation on the importance of thinking sustainably as well as supporting communities today in efforts to improve environmental practices.
A diverse range of organizations
We have worked with many community groups and service providers over the past few years and each year commit to a minimum of two community activities a month, delivering these out of our offices in The Hague and London. We’ve helped organizations as diverse as Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Prince’s Trust, Nederland Doet (National Volunteer Day), Haga Hospital The Hague, Earthwatch and The British Science Association. We have ongoing relationships with many of the groups we work with.
Employee involvement
A major benefit to the business is the positive impact our community work has on the employees who get involved. We are never short of volunteers from all parts of the organization and the personal fulfillment each of them expresses after taking part in an outreach program is significant. It’s great for employees to know they work for a company that supports community activities, will give them time out of work to get involved and truly connects community work to business success. Our community activities have a big role to play in boosting morale.

A good reputation
Sustaining our good business reputation is important to AOC and our community work certainly has an impact on the positive profile we have among our range of stakeholders. As well as motivating employees, we can see the benefits our community work has on recruiting talent to AOC, plus it grows cooperation among our different business units and can also foster third party ambassadorship of our organization. But the main focus for our community work is making a definite difference to the groups and service providers we work with.
