Health

A focus on health for all our wellbeing

We have a number of community programs that focus on health. Our commitment to this issue stems from an understanding that an individual’s sense of wellbeing directly correlates with the state of their health. We want to promote good health amongst our employees as well as the communities in which we work.

Mirroring our parent company

Our parent company, Saudi Aramco, owns a number of hospitals in Saudi Arabia, as a direct commitment to the health of its employees and local communities. At AOC, we are actively involved with many charities and institutions to mirror this commitment to health, providing our support through raising awareness, fundraising and face-to-face support.

Clear aims

We have common aims with each of our community health activities, the primary one being delivering direct benefit to the recipients of health care, such as the elderly and critically ill children, as well as to the individual organizations we work with. Knowing that we have in some way made someone’s life that little bit better gives AOC a significant morale boost and generates a high level of satisfaction amongst the employees involved.

A second aim is encouraging our employees to think about their own health and lifestyles. By facilitating involvement in fun runs, blood donation and community liaison, we draw attention to benefits of healthy living, highlight different ways in which we can all make individual contributions to healthier communities and encourage people to view health issues from different points of view.

AOC’s health outreach

In the last year we have been involved in different health projects, including Red Nose Day, picnics, support of the elderly and children’s hospital events.

Sanquin is a non-profit, semi-governmental organization, which is the only entity allowed to accept blood donation in the Netherlands. AOC worked with them to stimulate increased levels of blood donation amongst AOC employees, in turn serving as a ‘model corporate citizen’ to encourage other companies to motivate their employees to donate blood.

It would be really lovely to make this event happen again next year for the families, and it would be an absolute pleasure working with Aramco Overseas Company and the team in the future. Amy White, Corporate Relationship Manager, Shooting Star Hospice

Shooting Star is a children’s hospice offering care to children and their families with life-limiting conditions. We worked with Shooting Star on their Make a Wish campaign, providing funding for a picnic that brought together all of the families involved with Shooting Star.

We used Red Nose Day, a well-known British event run by the charity Comic Relief, to bring together Saudi Aramco’s affiliate offices for a cake baking competition, quiz and fun run in Hyde Park. It was a great team building exercise which raised vital funds for Comic Relief at the same time.
