Aramco Overseas Company B.V. Hong Kong

The AOC Hong Kong office is the intelligence hub of Saudi Aramco in Asia, providing understanding of the investment climate in these important energy markets.

AOC is the major shareholder in two joint ventures in the Asia Pacific region, namely S-Oil Corporation in Korea and Showa Shellin Japan. The management of these joint ventures is the primary responsibility of the AOC Hong Kong office, protecting and maximizing shareholder value in the established Asia Pacific joint ventures and identifying new downstream opportunities in the region.

The AOC Hong Kong office also assists Saudi Aramco Sino Company (SASC) in accounting, administration, legal and public relations activities. (SASC is an overseas subsidiary of Saudi Aramco and is therefore not an AOC joint venture). The key joint venture projects of SASC in China are Fujian Integrated Refining and Ethylene Joint Venture Project (FREP) and Sinopec SenMei Petroleum Company (SSPC).

Also, recognizing that the Asia Pacific Region is a collection of many different markets, each with its own language, economic and political system and level of development, AOC Hong Kong has dedicated public relations personnel ‘on the ground’ to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and provide timely and relevant corporate communications services and materials in these key markets.

We also have a Professional Development group which takes care of Saudi Aramco employees and Saudi Arabian student academic and language development in the Far East. Our team speaks Arabic, English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.

AOC Hong Kong provides the following functions to Saudi Aramco:

An inside story

In addition to joint venture management and investment intelligence gathering, the PDD also plays a strategically important role in attracting and retaining the best talent to work for the company inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As a recent example, the PDD successfully negotiated clinical training and technical assignment opportunities for the nursing and medical staff in the Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organisation (SAMSO) with leading medical universities and teaching hospitals in Australia.

On May 26, 2010, an AOC delegation, headed by Managing Director Ahmed M. Alzayyat and Asia Pacific Professional Development Manager Yacoub Al-Dossary, met with representatives of the University of Western Sydney and the Monash University in Melbourne. As a result of the meetings – and building on the ties that SAMSO already shared with health institutions in Australia and New Zealand – memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), were signed.

Saudi Aramco is confident that these collaborations will further strengthen SAMSO with adequate resources – to manage medical services and emergencies – easing the growing demand for high standard healthcare services inside the Kingdom.
